Made In Melbourne Bag House X-Pac® X11

The X-OAK range uses X-Pac® X11, a 100% waterproof laminated fabric made from three layers: a sustainably grown 10oz natural cotton duck face, a criss-cross X-PLY® grid spun from post-consumer recycled plastic bottles, and a 0.5mil polyester film backing. The X-PLY grid stops it tearing or stretching under stress, while the cotton face gives a soft feel and appearance to an extremely technical fabric.

The X-OAK CD1 features a secure magnetic buckle closure, 3rd leg stabiliser strap, an adjustable cross body strap with a metal buckle and built in shoulder pad. 3 internal sleeve pockets, 1 internal large zip pocket and 1 built in key clip. This CD1 is made without our standard ripstop lining, because the X11 construction is just as durable on its own and the benefit is less weight to carry.

Sewn on the inside of every Made In Melbourne bag is a Crumpler ‘Made In Melbourne’ badge, numbered and dated by its maker.

Crumpler's ‘Made in Melbourne’ collection is locally made in our 'Bag House' workshop, located in the heart of Melbourne. Our small but mighty team of skilled bag makers has relocated from our beloved Fitzroy workshop to Globe Alley in the city centre.

Each bag showcases the fun of Crumpler design and the impeccable cut and sewn process, carefully carried out by our expert team. With a focus on small-batch production, we ensure every bag stands the test of time. Each one is complete with an original ‘Made in Melbourne’ badge, sewn inside and marked with a unique number in chronological order, along with its date of birth.

From the start our dream was to return to Melbourne’s city centre and manufacture bags in a space reminiscent of our Flinders Lane beginnings.

After a year-long search, we found the perfect spot on Swanston Street – a beautiful heritage building with raw surfaces, high ceilings and concrete finishes. Simon O'Brien from Six Degrees Architects embraced the building’s history, including 1920s re-work, adding practicalities to the space. The result is a vibrant workshop where we’re inspired to create bags in Melbourne again.
